English term or phrase: day spots
When I was at NAB last week, I spoke to several owners of medium sized stations, who all said they were finding it impossible to cover day spots.

German translation:tagsüber gesendete Werbespots
Explanation:
It sounds to me like the stations cannot find enough advertisers to cover (fill) the day spots they have available, i.e. nicht genügend Abnehmer [Interessenten] für Werbespots, die tagsüber gesendet werden.
See if that would fit in with the rest of the text.

Radio advertising is divided into various time frames: morning and evening drive time (prime advertising time), day time (the worst time as the number of listeners is generally lowest), evening, night.

The two sites listed below might be of some help.

Explanation:
spots = Werbespots = kurze Reklamesendungen.
What I do not understand, is what they mean by "cover". Areb theu talking about costs? Or are they talking about some kind of handling.
