Thanks for your debating on the subject. Maybe, we'll be getting there.
The paragraph is entitled: BALANCE SHEET and describes an increase of the total assets of DEE from 2000 to 2002, "which represents a growth of xx%." Then comes the above sentence and continues: "Similarly, DEE's stockholders' equity increased from $xxx in 2000 to $xxx in 2002, which represents compund annual growth of xx%. As of xx, 2003, total assets and stockholders' equity had increased to $xxx and $xxx, respectively."
I am still confused about the "to" the stockholders.
P.S.
The company in question consists of an administrative holding company and a manufactoring operation and is a multinational coporation.

The company is "Delphi Delco Electronics Europe GmbH," or Delphi Corporation, a company producing and selling autoparts.
