Hallo allerseits!
Habe hier eine Kopie einer Geburtsurkunde aus dem schönen British Columbia, Kanada, die ins Deutsche übersetzt werden soll. Ist ja auch weiter keine Wissenschaft, nur macht mich folgender Satz stutzig: "This certificate is invalid if plasticized or altered". What the heck is meant by plasticized in this context? Habe spontan an laminiert gedacht, aber das würde erstens laminated heißen, und ergibt zweitens auch nicht sehr viel Sinn. Aber plastiziert oder plastifiziert passt doch erst recht nicht. Oder?

Bin für jede geistreiche Idee dankbar. :-)

Ich glaube es handelt sich dabei darum, dass man ein Dokument ja auch zwecks Haltbarkeit laminieren kann, und dass es dadurch ungültig wird (Hierzu werden Kunststofffolien verwendet, daher wohl das Wort "plasticized")

agree  Gabriele Twohig: Scheint hier am ehesten Sinn zu machen. "Plastifizieren" mag es geben, aber wohl eher im Zusammenhang mit offiziell (nicht hinterher und womöglich vom Benutzer) in Plastik versiegelten Dokumenten wie dem Personalausweis oder dem neuen Führerschein.
