English term or phrase: cycling (hier) ... und überhaupt
Cycling: In addition to warming up systems, the critical components such as boilers and steam piping have been designed adopting some technical features *to stand to increases thermal stress* and fatique cycles.

Wie übersetze ich hier "cycling" und ist der Satzteil zwischen ** nicht ein wenig merkwürdig? Fehlt da nicht irgendeine Präposition, ein kleines "of" z. B. ?

auf- und abfahren

For machines, cycle means to run it up to speed (or to operating conditions) and then to shut it down again. This, in your case, would heat up the boilers and pipes and then cool them down, leading to thermal expansion, stress, etc.

It is usually better to get a machine running and just let it run. Thus it stays at a single temperature.

For the others

"um größere Wärmebelastung und mehr Ermüdungszyklen standzuhalten"

The entire sentence is a bit off, the way I read it.
