I think you'll need a native speaker to come up with something suitably insulting for the second half of the sentence. I tried the literal rendering "dass nicht mal die Sonne auf dich scheint" and wasn't very convinced. But "suck" does mean "beschissen sein" here.

agree  VerenaH (X): agree w/ your statement ;-) btw sucking so much that light can't escape refers to black holes, the ultimate suckers. A response is sometimes "It's hard not to suck if you're the center of the universe..." ...dass sogar die Fliegen von der Decke fallen!
