A French company producing premium meat products was convinced that the new printing press offered many advantages and started using it ***in the early part at the end of*** 2006.

Meiner Meinung nach könnte damit gemeint sein, dass die französische Firma die neue Druckerei schon ***kurze Zeit nach deren Eröffnung, nämlich Ende 2006*** nutzte.
(Ich nehme an, dass mit printing press eine Druckerei gemeint ist und nicht eine Druckpresse. Weiterer Kontext wäre da hilfreich.)

and you should therefore try to find out from the author of the nonsense exactly what was meant. It looks a little bit (but only a little) like a translation from another language - and if it is, it wasn't done by an ENS.

If what was meant was "in the early part AT the end of 2006", then it should possibly have read "just before the end of 2006", but as stated, I'd try to find out what was meant in the early part - er, sorry: in the first place...
