Bus/Financial - Idioms / Maxims / Sayings / history and background of a hotel
|English term or phrase: checkered career|
|I am working on a brochure for a hotel in New York which was built at the turn of the century about 1904, and it describes the life of the developer "with a checkered career" Apparently he embezzled money at a later time and ended up in prison...|
I know basically what it means and I am oscillating between" bunte Laufbahn"
"schillernde Vergangenheit" but it doesn't satisfy me.
Has someone got a good expression on hand?
@ Francis: the readershop will be the guests of this hotel as the brochure is made available to anyone staying there.
Any help is much appreciated.
