I am not sure if there is not a word missing after "deem" such as "important" because somehow the sentence doesn't make sense. Or does "deem" here mean something else than "erachten" or "gelten"?

deem to keep klingt mir sehr nach einem festen Ausdruck, den ich hier eben so übersetzen würde
