English term or phrase: deputy judge
Gibt es im Deutschen so etwas wie einen "Vizerichter"
Annette
German translation:beauftragter Richter
Explanation:
Romain, WB der Rechts- & Wirtschaftssprache, gives beauftragter Richter or kommissarischer Richter. Both terms sound a little more plausible to me than Hilfsrichter.

I ran quick searches on all three terms, Hilfsrichter, beauftragter R., and kommissarischer R., and did not find anything for "kommissarischer Richter". For Hilfsrichter, the first 9 pages that came up pertained to sports (Hilfsrichter in the context of Schiedsrichter). For beauftragter Richter, the first 10 hits all pertained to legal matters, so I would use "beauftragter Richter".
