English term or phrase: condensed items
Hi, I need help with the following sentence fragment :
If the condensed items do not fit into the container,...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

German translation:see below
Explanation:
condensed=zusammengedraengt, zusammen-
gepresst, verdichtet, kondensiert (but this one has several "Entsprechungen,"
thus, I don't recommend using it within
your context).

Context???

Explanation:
A little more context would certainly help us help you!!
The most generic translation for condensed would probably be "verdichtet".
Langenscheidt lists
verdichten, kondensieren, niederschlagen, eindicken for "condense".

Also, what kind of items are involved? Physical items? Data elements? Is this a physical container (e.g., a box)?

Given the lack of context, I would suggest s.th. like,
wenn die verdichteten Elemente nicht in den Behälter passen...
with the strong caveat that this is a total stab in the dark and might not be at all correct for your text.

komprimiert

Explanation:
This may be a good compromise, given the lack of context (whether physical items - most likely) or something else).

Sollten die komprimierten Artikel (or some such) nicht in den Behälter/Container passen,...

Explanation:
As far as I know "komprimieren" is used for things like "Schlagader", "Gase" und "Daten" and for these purposes, English words like "restrict" and "compress" are used, not "condense". I believe one can only "condense" something containing liquids, a liquid itself or text. I do not think you can condense a gas or data (in the computer sense, only in the sense of printing condensed text). When a gas condenses, it becomes a liquid because of the effects or pressure or temperature, it does not become a thicker gas; that is compression. The use of the words "fit" and "container" also speak against a "data" context.

For me, the probably is very high that the items we are talking about are liquids like milk (or perhaps juice, but for juice we normally use concentrate, because, in contrast to the milk, the juice will be watered down again prior to use). Whatever it is going to "become denser" or "thicken" = "verdichten", and probably be used in that state.

Another strange point with your text is that we more than one item but only one container. If all the restrictions that I have put on the English word "condensed" above are right, then there aren't many other everyday materials besides milk products that could be meant.

After all this blah-blah, my suggestions would be:

"Sollten/Falls/Wenn die verdichteten Flüssigkeiten/Artikel/Materialen/Produkten nicht in dem Behälter/Container passen, ..."
