Geschichte eines Uhrmachermeisters

In 1743 he created his first Chronometer and in 1744 his first Repetition Dial.

Kein weiterer Kontext. Hat jemand eine Idee, um was es sich dabei handelt könnte?

neutral  Kim Metzger: How do you explain Schlagwerk for dial? A dial is Zifferblatt. Schlagwerk is striking mechanism.

Bin auf diesen Begriff gestossen. Hierbei werden bestimmte Zeitintervalle akustisch angekündigt. Was das aber mit "dial" zu tun hat...

Vielleicht hilft's ja weiter.

Based on the information below, (changed the FACE of watchmaking) I'd say dial certainly does refer to Zifferblatt. The German definition of Repetition is "zusätzliches Läutwerk" or additional chime. But I'm not sure the English term "repetition" really means chime. I think it may refer to multiple dials. See second reference below.

Gevril began as a restorer of timepieces in his home town of La Chaux-de Fonds where he invented numerous watch and clock movements. As he rode to success many horologic achievements would be attributed to his name and in 1744 he changed the face of watchmaking forever by creating the repetition dial. In perhaps his most notable achievement, Gevril became the first exporter of Swiss timepieces when he answered a call by Spain in the year 1758, to produce a timepiece for his majesty, the king.
