"Google on 'Samsung SSD-Festplatte'"

Ein Teil der Google-Treffer ist gar keiner: Es sind Seiten, auf denen der Suchbegriff gar nicht offen vorkommt, sondern nur von Händlern oder Preisvergleichsportalen als Stichwort im HTML-Code versteckt worden ist, damit Google drauf anspringt. So lockt man potenzielle Käufer aus Freak-Kreisen an, die es mit Fachbegriffen nicht so genau nehmen. Benutzt denn Samsung selbst in seinem deutschen Produktkatalog das Wort "Festplatte" für reine SDDs?

Nebenbei: Es ging in der Frage darum, ob etwas, das "Samsung DVD-Player" genannt wird, eine Komponente besitzt, die man "Festplattencache" nennt.

The reference was posted not for the "Gerät", but for the expression.

Google on "Samsung SSD-Festplatte" - only 714,000 hits - without Samsung, even more.

The reference mentioned by you is a primitive DVD player (16 EUR), not a home entertainment player.

I disagree. An SSD is a Laufwerk, not a Festplatte. A Festplatte is a magnetical disk (drive).

Home entertainment players now often have an SSD - solid state drive (aka Festplatte) - for video recording and a function for burning recorded video data to disc.

"Cache of discs" is obviously a misnomer. "caching for/of discs" (in the sense of intermediate storage for a DVD copy function?) could be an option.

I agree with your "buffer memory/Pufferspeicher" option (and mentioned it in my answer).

"Cache" ist korrekt, "Festplattencache" ist falsch.

Wer will, kann auch "Puffer(speicher)" sagen, das beschreibt die Funktion weit besser als "cache", das ja ursprünglich nur "verborgen" bedeutet.
