English to German translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Instruments / Knie-Endoprothetik
English term or phrase:koker
Auch hier gehts es nochmal um die Tibiakomponente.
Bei der Tibiapräparation für die Version mit Schaftverlängerung heisst es:
"The tibial bone plug may not be fully removed by the hollow broach. Use a KOKER or small rongeur to fully remove remaining bone."
Einen "Koker" kenne ich nicht und finde im Internet nun einen Eigennamen dazu. Ist Euch dieses scheinbar Luer-ähnliche Instrument schon einmal über den Weg gelaufen??
Please, Sue, do me the favour and enter your suggestion as question!! Meanwhile I checked with a friend of mine, an orthopaedic surgeon, and he confirmed that they sometimes use "whatever happens to be around", ie. sometimes even a Kocherklemme ;-)
What a hilarious case of "spell it like it's pronounced"--well caught, Dr. Sue! Looking at some articles, it seems that the Kocher forceps is used quite often to "nibble away"/"bite off" small pieces of tissue. Maybe it works for small pieces of bone?
