Explanation:

paired down ?
“paired down” Is misspelled or a typo, who knows. It should read pared down, meaning it’s slimmer.
pare down = beschneiden, einschränken

I’d suggest s.th. like “die Silhouette ist schlanker” or “eine schlankere Silhouette”

double face nylon
zweiseitig beschichtetes Nylon (http://www.zoelzer.de/ger/packsack.htm) or
doppelseitiges or zweiseitiges Nylon – depends on what the material is used for
mabye even double-face (see URL below)

stretch twill
Stretch Twill (http://www.edwin-jeans.de/deutsch/bse_tight.htm)

paper touch poplin
Paper-Touch-Popeline, Popeline mit Paper-Touchfinish
http://www.edwin-jeans.de/deutsch/bse_tight.htm
www.newyorker.de/german/club/fresh/
www.frontline-net.de/geda_stab.htm
www.frontline-net.de/fcuk_season.htm
"Paper touch:
Ein Hauch von Material super leicht und bequem. Betty Barclay"
www.modeweber.ch/html/sommer_00/w14.htm

tartan shirt - kariertes Hemd ?
I’d leave Tartan – kariert just doesn’t do the Scottish clans justic

a low rise (on pants)
try tief sitzend or Hüfthose
There’s a couple of eBay sites that use low rise – check also maybe www.brigitte.de and look through their fashion stuff

a nouveaux, preppy collection
neu, preppy, pfiffig, whatever….
A Google search, in German, on the term "preppy" yielded about 56 or so hits

A fashion dictionary reference would be greeat!
Try these:
http://www.modejoker.de/pb_i_txl.htm
www.messlers.com/lexikon-ac
www.fashion-base.de/Faserstoffe.htm
www.lookonline.at/lexikon.htm
http://www.mode.de/modelexikon01.htm
If you’ll merely search on “Modelexikon”, you’ll get about 100 hits in Google. Not all of them pan out, but you should be able to find a lot of stuff.
I’d also look for sites like Betty Barclay (she must have a site), C&A, DelMod, Bennington, H&M, and what have you.
Normally I’d say HTH – in this case I’ll say I know this helps! ;-)
