English term or phrase: add to cart
I have seen this translated on the web in various ways:
Kart/Einkaufswagen et al. or not translated
and it remained "cart."
But, what is the best way?

German translation:in den Einkaufswagen
Explanation:
I have seen that on many sites, including amazon.de and personally, I find it preferable to using "cart".

this was a tough one to award Kudoz. I used "in den Einkaufswagen"
in my text. I know there were more of you, saying the same
thing, thus, I decided to award the points to the first
person who said it. All the other answers were sensible and
right as well. It is difficult, what to use, esp. when one
finds so many variations on the theme out on the Internet and
nothing seems to be "standart" as yet.

Again many thanks to everyone.

zum Einkaufswagen hinzufügen

Explanation:
I've seen this on some web sites, but also "in den Einkaufswagen", so I'd say it depends on whether you want to add the verb hinzufügen or some such to make it even more clear what the customer is doing by pressing the button.

in den Einkaufswagen

Explanation:
"Einkaufswagen" is definitively the better solution. An alternative may be "in den Einkaufswagen legen" or "dem Einkaufswagen hinzufügen".

im Einkaufswagen

Explanation:
This sounds simple, but it is that simple: you go shopping in the super market or the mall and you add the purchased item in you shopping cart; except this one is a virtual one on the webpage you are visiting. If you don't like this, you might just like to put: die Bestellung ergänzen mit.../zur Bestellung hinzufügen.

Hope this helps!

Warenkorb / In den Warenkorb

Explanation:
Amazon.de uses "In den Einkaufswagen"; however, another German site (kater-verlag.de), where I recently ordered some dictionaries, simply uses Warenkorb.
Whichever one you choose, it does need to be accusative, i.e. "In den ...", not "Im" as the phrase is derived from "in den Warenkorb legen". Alternatively, you could use "Zum Warenkorb hinzufügen" although I must say I haven't seen that particular phrase on German sites.
