English to German translations [Non-PRO]
English term or phrase: on the double
glaube es bedeutet:jetzt sofort..
Winter
German translation:im Laufschritt
Explanation:
Hier ist, was mein "Dictionary of American Slang" sagt:
double, on the: Orig. Army use. At a run; fast, quickly. !934: "They went with me on the double." Cain, Postman, 72. Often used as a command or plea to hurry.

"Im Laufschritt" fände ich demnach eine passende Übersetzung. Aber möglich wäre wohl auch "Bewegung!" oder "Schnell Schnell!" Auf jeden Fall hat es einen kommandierenden Unterton.

im Laufschritt

Explanation:
dies ist ein Begriff aus dem militärischem und bedeutet in der Umgangssprache, dass man sich beeilen soll. "Im Laufschritt" wäre also die deutsche Entsprechung.
Hope it helps.
