English to German translations [PRO]
English term or phrase: bib design
Hi!
Does anybody know how a "bib design" looks like? And how to translate this expression into German? There are necklaces or bracelets in bib design.

The only translation I found for 'bib' was 'französischer Dorsch' and 'baby's bib' translated as 'Kinderlätzchen', but this doesn't make any sense to me with regard to jewellery.

German translation:Collier
Explanation:
This seems to be the closest to a "bib design".

Check out these 2 sites for pictures of bib design necklaces (bib applies only to the necklace, not the bracelet):

... UNUSUAL combination of color and design. The bib collar has Chrome triangular shaped ... Rhinestones!
The end of the necklace is also rhinestones, and measures ...

Then check out the pictures of "Colliers" on these pages (you should be able to find quite a few more; I just looked for a few that do have pictures):
www.bijoux-de-boheme.de/shop/show/show_kat/de/Aktuelle_Gesa... Strass-Schmuck/Strass-Colliers.htm
www.barde-vom-glan.de/Schmuck/Colliers/colliers.html

The following site might also be helpful, it's a German glossary of jewelry terms:
www.beyars.com/lexikon/auff_deln_2072.html

Hope this helps a bit...

Explanation:
It would be funny but why not ???
Just to be complete : Bib is the short name of Bibendum, the true name of the Michelin man. I think everybody has already seen him on trucks.
As the Michelin man has been awarded as the most famous logo of the world by a jury built up by the Financial Times in December 2000, it could be possible... but very funny !
