English term or phrase: entry page
It's about the different levels of a website. The first page the user accesses on a website is the "entry page" (ie. "This level contains the pages which can be accessed directly from the entry pages")

German translation:Startseite
Explanation:
This should be the right and most usual translation. I am programming websites too, and this is the right expression in the field of HTML and computer sciences.

I also found it 40 times at http://www.yahoo.de, whereas the term "Einstiegsseite" was not mentioned at all. At http://www.google.de the term "Startseite" was found 3,290,000 times, the term "Einstiegsseite" appeared 53,400 times.
The term "Einführung" should not be used in this context, because it actually means "introduction", and this is not meant here.
I hope, this will help you.
