In einem US Thjriller wird eine junge FRau in einem "sparrow job" eingesetzt - sie macht sich in einer Bar als "working girl" an einen Freier ran, um ihm Geheimnisse zu entlocken. Dabei muss sie "bis zum Äußersten" gehen", also wenn nötig auch mit dem "john" ins Bett.
Ich würde gern den Hintergrund es Begriffs "sparrow job" erfahren - und vielleicht hat auch jemand eine Übersetzung dafür.

Die große Frage ist, ob dein "sparrow" nur Informationen beschaffen soll oder ob sie zu strafbarem Verhalten provozieren soll. Im ersten Fall fiele mir "verdeckter Ermittler", "undercover cop", "Maulwurf", "V-Mann/Frau" und "Spitzel" ein. Im zweiten Fall könnte Anjas "Lockvogel" funktionieren oder "Agent Provocateur".

Das OED kennt übrigens den "sparrow cop":

1935 A. J. Pollock Underworld Speaks 111/1 Sparrow cop, police or motorcycle officer who patrols parks and boulevards (petty thefts and petting parties).
1960 Wentworth & Flexner Dict. Amer. Slang 506/2 Sparrow cop, a policeman in disfavor with his superiors and assigned to a park to guard the grass.

Der erste Beleg deutet wenigstens z. T. in Richtung "Sittenpolizei". Geht es in deinem Thriller um illegale Prostitution o. Ä.?

Ansonsten gibt es hier auch noch einen "sparrow":
