Ich lokalisiere die Software für das Back Office eines Einzelhandelsgeschäfts und habe Probleme mit der Übersetzung des Verbs "to balance". Die Erklärung, die ich vom Kunden dazu bekommen habe, ist, dass es bei dem Vorgang um Folgendes geht: "checking the amount of money in the machine, for example the till, to see whether it is correct; comparing you think what you have with what you actually have in the machine; 'to balance': used in the accounting/banking sense". (Interessant zu wissen ist übrigens noch, dass es sich bei dem mir in englischer Sprache vorliegenden Ausgangstext um eine Übersetzung aus dem Japanischen handelt.) Wäre für Vorschläge total dankbar!

Der Begriff wird im Amerikanischen tatsächlich oft benutzt, z.B. "balance your checkbook" d.h. der Saldo wird mit den geschriebenen Schecks weitergeführt und muss dann dem Banksaldo entsprechen.

Je nach Satz könnte statt "abstimmen" auch "abgleichen" oder "müssen übereinstimmen" etc. benutzt werden.
