Tech/Engineering / advanced, large-scale data storage management solutions
English term or phrase: component fencing
The topic is advanced data storage management for enterprises, business continuity and other such good things.

There is absolutely no context, it appears as a bullet point in a PowerPoint presentation outlining the advantages of this particular solution.

List reads,
[...]
non-disruptive upgrades
data integrity checking
disk scrubbing
component fencing

This is the first time the term has come up in this client's materials; Google yields a measly 2 hits which are absolutely not relevant.

Since there is absolutely no context (the notes pages in the presentation are empty), I only have a very vague idea what this might mean (other than that it's a desirable feature...). I can always use the English term, that won't be a problem with this particular target audience. But my own curiosity has been piqued. Any ideas?

Nutzungseingrenzung (Zugriffsbegrenzung) für Komponenten
Explanation:
fencing = einzäunen, limitieren, begrenzen

For security or operational reasoons, components of computer systems are either assigned to groups or limited in the access rights through password and rights routines. In the case of databases this can also be done for operational reasons, access speed, access time logging, besides the usual security concerns.

That is what I think they mean here - I can think of no other logical use of this term.
