Tech/Engineering
English term or phrase: redistributable files or redistributables
These are files that a software vendor makes available to licensed software developers, in this case database files which the developer can then use to build his/her own application.

The term appears in all sorts of strings, such as:
When you build a release, the xxx object copies the required xxx redistributable files to your setup project's disk image.
The build location indicates where on the disk image the xxx redistributable files are placed.
Redistributable Path

The Win2000 glossary only lists redistribution = Neuverteilung, and "neuverteilbare Dateien" just doesn't do it for me.
Neither am I thrilled with "verteilbare Dateien" which is at least borne out by some German software licenses. I was hoping that someone might have a better suggestion...

Thanks in advance.

Thanks to both of you and also to helvetia who sent me a private email with suggestions. And a special thanks to Dan who always digs up such interesting and useful references.

In the end, I used none of the suggested terms, but decided to stick with "weiterverteilbare Dateien" (from a German Microsoft developers'license).

"freiverteilbar" or maybe leave it in English like many others do

Explanation:
297 Google (German) sites and 47 AltaVista (German) sites, including Mother Microsoft and several German universities, do not even bother to try to translate "redistributable ", maybe you do not need to either.

Here a few examples:

http://www.installsite.org/discde/_discde/00000073.htm

http://www.herdsoft.com/katalog/formpad.html

http://windowsupdate.ch/windowsupdate/windows2000/empfohlene...

http://www.microsoft.com/germany/copyright/software.htm

The English is usually used with the modifier "freely" so you might also use "freiverteilbar".
