Text Explanation: The style is a bit strange - they are trying to say that it is an honour to have the guests there as well as that they *need* them to be there if they want to celebrate their wedding the "right" way. It suggests that it would be wrong not to have these people there. Try "Wir bitten um die Ehre Ihrer Anwesenheit, die benoetigt wird um die Hochzeit von X und Y zu feiern." I am not sure if you should use "ihr" or "euch" and you might want to use "zelebrieren" instead of feiern. HTH, Rasmus. |

beehren sich, Explanation: Formal German would use "beehren sich, zur Vermählung ihrer Tochter / ihres Sohnes ... [mit/am etc.] einzuladen". Wedding announcements are still published in the local papers, in what I can only describe as "personal ads", often with some sort of clipart-like graphics (rings, doves, you name it). Times and styles have changed a bit, but in formal announcements, you will still find "Herr und Frau ... beehren sich, die Vermählung ihrer Tochter ... mit Herrn ... anzuzeigen." |
