English to German translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering / computer monitor
English term or phrase: dual model
Accessories: 1 pc DVI-cable (only dual model)

This is from the instructions of a LCD-monitor

German translation:(Nur Modell mit) zwei Eingangsarten
Explanation:
I suppose dual refers to the input(s) - the "dual model" offers a standard input and a DVI input as well. DVI is not a PC standard, but an AV standard, so a monitor with nothing but a DVI input wouldn't work with a standard personal computer.

I'm guessing here, but I think it's a fairly good guess...

Essentially, I have been able to substantiate my guess using Google. However, there seem to be some displays that offer two DVI inputs, no other input types. So if you\'re not certain about the monitor having a standard PC input, you might want to call it \"mit zwei Eingängen\" to be safe.

agree  Jerzy Czopik: This is not only a fairy good guess, but simply the only reasonable solution. However, I would prefer to write "(Monitor mit) zwei Eingängen" (or "Videoeingängen"), as we usually do not refer to "Eingangsart" in the language of computer-gurus :-)

-> - simply the only reasonable solution: That's why I thought it's a fairly good guess :-). I'm fine with Eingängen, but Eingangsarten should satisfy the Gurus as well - it's more concise than Eingänge.

agree  Herbert Fipke: mit Cerzy: "mit zwei Eingängen"
