Can anybody think of a good way to translate deployment in this context.

It is different from the implementation of the site.

First, the site is implemented, tested etc., then it is actually deployed.

For a noun I think "Onlinestellung" or the above "Onlineschaltung" with or without hyphenation seems to fit best.
