Seems to be sort of a new concept, but I am literally picturing a groove in soleplate of the iron for the buttons on the piece of clothing to be ironed.

a groove on each side of the sole plate in the tip area of the sole plate, which allows for better detailing around button, by allowing this thinner segment of the sole plate to glide partially under the button and thus permitting to iron out wrinkles in any possibly visible are of the button bar and/or the sleeves and/or button-down collar.
