To be frankly: I have NO IDEA

This is probably not genuine English. Probably from Taiwan/China? I just think about the "Japlish" (English translated by Japanese) I have to deal with.... Sounds very similar to me.

Just use your imagination and don't stick to close to original. This may -in worst case - be even misleading to the user.

It's not totally wrong, but is is dictionnary English. A notch in German is "eine Kimme" It means, according to the Duden "Einschnitt im Visier einer Handfeuerwaffe, durch den man beim Zielen über das Korn nach dem Zielpunkt sieht."
Don't use this word, nobody would get the meaning.
