English term or phrase: Personal Alert Safety System (PASS)
electronic lack of motion sensor worn by firefighters

lack of motion sensor?
Claudia Dvorak
German translation:Immobilitätsmelder, etc.
Explanation:
A PASS, "lack of motion sensor", is a device worn by forest and bush firefighters that sends out a signal if the wearer does not move for a short period of time. It would be just the thing for some of our public service workers. :-) The German translation is again difficult because big forest fires are not common in Germany. Searches under keywords +Feuerwehr, +"Persönliche Schutzausrüstungen" in the major search engines turned up lots of gloves, helmets, boots, SCBA, visors, etc, but not this item. Spain, France, Greece, Australia and the US need such devices often but they do not speak much German in those countries. Perhaps you could coin a German term like "Immobilitätsmelder" or "Unbeweglichkeitsmelder" or even "Bewegungslosigkeitsmelder", but probably better would be to use PASS then explain it in parentheses

Was heißt HDH?

Nochmals vielen Dank! Claudia
