Hi,

Again, something I heard about many years ago: when some Greeks living in Asia Minor heard that the Turks were coming (for some reason they weren't in a position to fight) they danced over the cliffs and into the sea.

I think you're probably referring to the event known as "ο χορός του Ζαλόγγου".

Having said, mass suicide is a common theme in Greek history when under pressure (I think a similar incident of mass suicide happened when the Turks seized Constaninople), so you might be referring to another incident, because Zalongon is in mainland Greece, not in Asia Minor.

However, it remains the most famous and typical example.
