English to Greek translations [Non-PRO] Marketing
English term or phrase:ology
Kinesiology is derived from the Greek words kines andology. These words translate to the English movement and study or the study of movement.
So, the termination is not "ology", but "-logy". It comes from the ancient Greek word "logos", meaning "a word, saying, speech, discourse, thought"
(Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary - You know, this 2300-page illustrated fat dictionary!)
Always at the end a compound word, giving the meaning of dealing with, speaking about or studding the subject of the first component. So, Kinesiology is the science that studies the kinesis (=movement).
