English term or phrase:And have put a purple colour about my brow
‘Alas!’ he writes, ‘I am morbid,
And have put a purple colour about my brow.
All men seem eating and drinking the
“Joy of the Round Feast,” while I am
Melancholy and silent, as though in a
Gloomy wood, astray.
I think, "about my brow" should not be taken as "above my brow" i.e. forehead...perhaps it's better to think of it as the area around brows (i.e. eyelids, near the eyes) which is the first area changing color when a person is dying or even in deep distress and worry our eyes become darker, (dark circles, etc..) an option could be to translate not so accurately but conveying the meaning i.e. "και τα μάτια μου μπλάβισαν..."(or if you don't like μπλαβισαν "μαύρισαν" as per "τα μάτια η πείνα μαύρισε...στα μάτια η μάνα μνεει" (Ελεύθεροι Πολιορκημένοι).
