"Hi" as a greeting can be omitted. Typically, we would say: Bonjou/Bonswa (Good morning/Good evening).
Even more typically is the original greeting "Onè" (Honor) when knocking at a door for example. The person opening the door would answer "Respè" [Respect (for you)].

Unfortunately, the latest traditions tend to dissipate a bit in common usage.
