Yzra'el = Israel Explanation: Yzra'el in the psalm means simply Israel - the land of Israel. This is a blessing for fertility of the land. However, Yzra'el is also a valley in the northern part of Israel of today. The paslm does not refer to this specific spot, but to the land as a whole. N.B. According to the Hebrew version of the Bible, the word is _not_ found in Hosea psalm 2:22 but in Hosea 2:24. The 2:22 psalms says: "ve-arastaich li be-emuna ve-yada'ata et adonay" Good luck, Yael The Bible |
