Master's Double Standard Two-Step Exercise Test


The test is to be done only under the supervision of an experienced physician. It must not be done within 1 hour of smoking or eating or drinking cold liquids. The test must not be done within 1 week of an infection (upper respiratory infection, bronchitis, cystitis, etc.,) or within 12 hours of medication with peritrate or other coronary vasodilators (Positive history should be reported). The test must not be done within 3 weeks of medication with digitalis (Positive history should be recorded). Twelve (12) lead resting electrocardiograms, with the applicant in supine position must be completed. If there is no evidence of acute coronary insufficiency or a recent myocardial infarction is not detected, the exercise as indicated in chart below (number of trips over the two-step stairs in exactly 3 minutes) will be conducted.
