TO TAKE OFF
Also, please could someone indicate with which items of clothing etc. FARA ÚT ÚR should not be used, and what alternative is used. Since SETJA UPP is used for rings, how do you say “to take off a ring”?

In earlier times, say about 50-100 years ago the phrase "taka af sér" was used formally for taking off clothes; example: The guests have arrived and the housewife greets them and says: "Viljið þið ekki taka af ykkur áður en þið gangið til stofu?"
