English term or phrase: roof combs and key-fret!
si parla di architettura Maya -più precisamente del Tempio del Piccione e del Palazzo del Governatore. sono entrambi degli elementi decorativi, dei fregi, ma l'autore si lancia spesso in libere invenzioni terminologiche!
roof combs;
key-frets;
step-and-fret.

Italian translation:colmo del tetto
Explanation:
1) Roof Comb (comb in English = cresta del gallo = something pointed)

Definition : ornamental vertical extension rising above the rear
wall or over the center of Maya temple roofs.

I let you find the appropriate term in Italian, but I hope a couple of photos can help you :

http://www.anthroarcheart.org/tblw92.htm (in this one, the legend calls it
"astrological roof comb")

2) key-fret
to fret = scorniciare
Oddly enough, I found the term "key-fret" about Asian vases and bowls !
= key-fret border/key-fret band
