We all know what a headache is to try and adjust your council tax bill. Not so, however, if you live within the London borough of Tower Hamlets. The council has just made a huge investment of £4m in CRM and web-enabled services that will completely transform the organisation.

E' forse il Comune? Si fa la dichiarazione delle tasse comunali? Come posso tradurre Council in modo che si concili :-) con la realtà italiana?

Explanation:
Anche se il Grande Dizionario Picchi It<-> EN, Hopeli, 2001 che, come dizionario generale in CD, trovo abbastanza buono, forse migliore del Ragazzini dà il traducente seguente:

"council tax" imposta locale sul valore degli immobili.

In effetti la "Council tax" è l'imposta locale, o l'imposta comunale, da corripodere per i servizi ergotati dal comune (Es: mantenimento, costruzione di scuole, strade, biblioteche, servizi di rimozione dei rifiuti domestici, ecc, ecc). Come tale non è una tassa locale sul valore degll'immobile (esigibile nel caso di acquisto o vendita di un immobile) ma è la tassa dei servizi comunali "calcolata" sul valore dell'immobile occupato da una data persona.
I valori degli immobili sono siddivisi in varie fasce (Band, A B, C, D E, ecc.). Questa tassa comunale ha sostuito la regressiva "poll tax" , a suo tempo introdotta dalla lunatica e guerrafondaia Maggie Tatcher.
