L'autore spiega quali sono le varie fasi secondo le quali si sviluppa una narrazione, in particolare nel caso specifico dei film d'azione. ci sono 10 fasi, le prime 3 sono Thematization (the general conditions of the narrative are presented), Proposal of conflict (a suggestion of a potential conflict though it has not yet materialized in a statement of opposition) e Polarization (we are in a position to actually take sides..). Arriva ora il punto che non so come tradurre:

4. Definition of the project (promise, mission, challenge)
Just as the enigma code requires that the audience is given a clear definition of what the question or the enigma is, the equivalent moment in the action code is when ***the public is informed of what is at stake***.
