Il termine si trova nella descrizione di un listato. Riporto l'intera frase per aiutarvi e il comando per aiutarvi perché secondo me c'è un errore ma non ne sono sicura:

Note that the single quotes (just before the sort command and just before the pipe symbol) are actually back quotes (or back ticks). The back quote is usually found with the tilde just under the Esc key on most keyboards.
La descrizione si riferisce a questo comando:

finger 'sort /etc/passwd | cut -f1 -d":"'

Da quanto capisco dalla descrizione e analizzando il comando, mi sembra che non si tratti di back quotes (in italiano barre inverse) ma di barre normali.
Vi chiedo il vostro parere e la traduzione di back quotes e, il nome in inglese della / nel caso in cui sia sbagliato il testo.

ho trovato questa denominazione, dovrebbe essere chiara. Tra l'altro il carattere è visualizzato bene nell'intervento di Gianfranco.
In Word lo troverai così: Inserisci->Simbolo->Testo normale, il carattere sotto la D maiuscola
