In un testo che parla di cosa è stato fatto in un luogo aperto al pubblico, tipo monumento commemorativo:

"On CXXXXisland, we have completed the pedestal renovation...... . The works included also repairs to the boundary wall and cleaning of the COS."
COS is written in capital letters, as I did here.
Could it be anotherer way to say weeds?
I wonder what it is referring to...!
any help?
