Explanation:
Visto il contesto lo tradurrei con 'Informazioni fuorvianti' poiche' il contesto e' un articolo giornalistico ed il termine slander e' gia' 'omnicomprensivo' quindi l'unione di questo termine con l'aggettivo mi fa pensare piu' ad un...questa persona ha detto bugie che avrebbero/potrebbero avere conseguenze legali che non un...e' stata accusata di questo crimine (ed e' stato dimostrato che era colpevole).
Forse sbaglio ma non conoscendo il contesto questa e' la mia idea.
