English term or phrase: cross case
Sempre da un lungo ricorso in appello in inglese (Pakistan):

"The Honorable Judges failed to attend to the motive established by prosecution evidence," questa parte mi è stata risolta con il prezioso aiuto dei colleghi di Proz,"which remained unrebutted by the defence evidence, and *fate of cross case* with this backdrop of loophole in defence evidence the sanctity and veracity of impugned judgment stands damaged, and is open to judicial review by this Honorable Court."

Non mi pare di trovare una resa convincente di cross case in questo contesto giuridico, mi pare di capire che si faccia riferimento alla versione alternativa della vicenda.

Grazie mille. V.

Cross cases, it is a salutary practice, when two criminal cases relate to the same incident, they are tried and disposed of by the same court by pronouncing judgments on the same day. Such two different versions of the same incident resulting in two criminal cases are compendiously called 'case and counter case' by some High Court and 'cross cases' by some other High Courts, Sudhir v. State of Madhya Pradesh, (2001) 2 SCC 688: AIR 2001 SC 826 (827). [Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, s. 408]
