Se il beneficiario non è tale fin dal principio, ma lo diventa al verificarsi di una contingency (condizione necessaria per diventare beneficiario), allora è detto contingent (vedi link sotto). La traduzione proposta è una perifrasi, perché essendo l'istituto del trust una peculiarità di common law non esiste una traduzione italiana standard del termine.
