Ovviamente non vi chiedo una traduzione ma un interpretazione giusto per essere sicura di aver capito il senso. Quel che mi crea più problemi è quel:

secondo me il senso delle tre espressioni è questo:

Bitch-slapping e putting him in place: punirlo e metterlo in riga

let him get away with it: lasciar correre/non fargliela pagare

to feel out where it's going: cercare di capire in che direzione sta andando (feel out: sondare, tastare il polso, valutare)

in generale secondo me si intende che a volte avrebbe voglia di metterlo in riga per quello che ha fatto ma alla fine lascia sempre correre perché vuole vedere come si evolveranno le cose.
