Le query sono le funzioni di consultazione e aggiornamento su database: è un termine che non ha un corrispettivo italiano soddisfacente ed è talmente diffuso da non essere ormai neanche strettamente tecnico. Talvolta anzi viene anche abusato, ma in questo contesto è sicuramente corretto.
