Grazie. Capisco che il lievito si usa anche per fare il pane. Questo lievito e per fare le torte, e diverso. Si chiama "lievito" lo stesso? So che e "lievito in polvere." Grazie!

Baking powder e' specifico per dolci. Illievito che si usa per il pane, in Nord America, si chiama "yeast".

o lievito in polvere: di solito si tratta di un'agente lievitante che non e` lievito (fermenti vivi) ma p.es. bicarbonato o altri additivi chimici, con un effetto lievitante piu` rapido rispetto al lievito di birra e che non produce l'aroma caratteristico di pane e pizze.

e' quello che in Italia, almeno fino a quando ho fatto i dolci, si vendeva in bustine come Lievito Gentilini, e la bustina conteneva proprio "baking powder"
