English to Italian translations [PRO]
English term or phrase: permeate pressure gauge
an instructions manual of a compressor used to fill underwater bottles
amanda
Italian translation:manometro del permeato
Explanation:
I know of at least one case where "permeate" is used as a noun, and that is crossflow filtration, p.ex. reverse osmosis. If the machine for filling the underwater bottles contains some membrane arrangement for enriching the air with oxygen by gas permeation, there would also be a permeate (the portion of the gas that has gone through the membrane). The whole process being run by pressure, pressure gauges are important. If I recall well, permeate pressure gauges were called manometro del permeato in italian, but I may have made a mistake with genders or something, my italian is far from perfect.

permeate o permeated?

Explanation:
"Gauge" è un indicatore, quindi si tratta senz'altro di un indicatore/misuratore di pressione. Mi convince poco "permeate", che è un verbo, mentre potrebbe essere "permeated", traducendo così l'espressione in "misuratore/indicatore della pressione permeata".

manometro, indicatore di pressione

Explanation:
Per pressure gauge, il Marolli dà:
manometro, indicatore di pressione.
Non so se il dubbio riguardasse anche "permeate", nel qual caso dovresti mandare più contesto
