English term or phrase: to polish off a day's work
Roger Hammond polished off a day's work by Cervélo Test Team with a successful attack at the end of Tour of Qatar stage two in Al Khor. The Briton launched from a 14-man move that contained six of his teammates and top sprinters, like Tom Boonen and Danilo Napolitano. He maintained his advantage over the final 2800 metres to win the stage and take the overall leader's golden jersey.

ha messo/posto fine agli sforzi... con...

Explanation:
Cristina
