English term or phrase: sakura
"the smell of sakura was not so sweet"
papadopoulou efi
桜の香りはあまりよくなかった
Explanation:
桜の香りはあまりよくなかった.
sakura no kaori wa amari yokunakatta

sakura = (the) cherry blossom
no = 's
kaori = smell/fragrance
wa...nakatta = was not...
amari = so (as in: not "so" ...)
yoku(nakatta) = (not) sweet

The normal word for sweet is 甘い (amai), but in the case of smell, one uses "good":よい (yoi)(よくなかった yokunakatta, for negative, past tense), and "bad":わるい(warui)(わるくなかった warukunakatta, neg. past tense).
