English to Japanese translations [Non-PRO]
Medical - Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) / pharmacology
English term or phrase: to be characterized for
The mechanism of resistance has been best characterized for the vanA cluster of seven genes found on the transposable genetic element Tn1546.

/// This article as about vancomycin resistance. Previous sentence is "Five types of vancomycin resistance have been reported in enterococci." I can not translate "characterized for" , so please help me.

「耐性の機序は、トランスポゾン遺伝子要素Tn1546 上に見られる7つの遺伝子の、vanA 群 のために/にとって(?)特徴づけられる。」

if it is "to be characterized by", it means 「〜によって特徴づけられる」。 But in this case, what does this mean?

Japanese translation:特性研究が行われてきた
Explanation:
「特徴づけが行われてきた」と考えるとわかりやすいでしょうか。

vanA以下に関する耐性機序の特性研究が行われてきた、という意味です。
transposable, vanA clusterはもう一度調べ直したほうがいいですよ。
